Colour Me...Addicted!!!

For the longest time I have resisted the temptation to stamp and colour......I think I should have kept resisting...hehehe.....
I recently purchased my very first selection of Copic markers from Lime Tart.  They have a great Copic Club running and along with my first set of markers, I also received a little binder with helpful info.  For me this has been a great way into colouring as I seriously have no idea.
So armed with my markers and stamps, I thought I'd have a little play.....
The image on the left is coloured with my new Copics and the image on the right is with my water colours.
Now don't look too closely at my colouring and the dodgy smudging on some of the edges.  I think it's okay for a first effort.  I prefer the brightness of the water colours, but as I'm just starting, my Copic collection is quite limited.  I love the way the copic colours blend though!  Oh dear....I don't think I'll tell Stef about this
..hehehehe...
Will be back later with some card creations using my new stampy images.
Thanks for stopping by :)

Up. Up and Away and a Sneaky peak!

Well, I guess old habits die hard, as I find myself scrapping Kaiser's new release...Up, Up and Away...... hehehe..I love the beautiful warm colours of this collection and have had these Autumn photos of Noah for the longest time, just waiting for the right papers...
These happy snaps were taken at my parent home in their front garden.  They have the most enormous Liquid Amber tree and every Autumn the leaves change to provide such a beautiful display of colour.  On this particular day we tossed leaves up into the air and Noah had an absolute ball.  I looooove how happy he is in these photos...I can't help but smile every time I look at them....

and a little close up....

and here is my little sneaky peak of our next challenge over at Scrap that Poetry...

As the weekend comes to a close...I always find myself wishing for just one more day a home to enjoy before the start of another busy week.  Hope your weekend was a good one.

Scrap that Poetry ~ Challenge #20

Welcome to our second challenge poem for July.

Dreams by Langston Hughes
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Here is my layout......
I used the line from the poem "always hold fast to your dreams" as the title of my layout.  I have used this photo before, but it's one of my absolute favourites and a bit of accidental photographic excellence on my part...lol...  I love how Belle looks in this photo and the way the image pops from the layout too!

Be sure to pop over to Scrap that Poetry and check out the gorgeous layouts from the other DT girls and maybe even have a play along!

Creative Canvas

Look at what I've made.......
I have been wanting to dabble in some mixed media for ages, but haven't found myself with enough time to sit and play, and now that my Kaiser creating had come to an end, I find myself with some extra time!
I've made this using a 12x12 canvas.....I'm not sure if it's complete yet.  I think I might add some more layering to the flowers along the bottom....not sure.

I've gotta say..I think this might become a little addictive.  I created the background by mixing my water colours straight onto the canvas, until I got the colour variation I was looking for.  A little scary at first...but once I started blending the colours...I loved it!  I then splattered different colours and also glimmer misted the background.  Once that was day I treated the canvas as I would a regular paper background.  I think I may have to keep trying so more!  What do you think?

First Love

As promised I'm back with our next beautiful poem for challenge #19 at

First Love

by John Clare
I ne'er was struck before that hour
With love so sudden and so sweet,
Her face it bloomed like a sweet flower
And stole my heart away complete.
My face turned pale as deadly pale.
My legs refused to walk away,
And when she looked, what could I ail?
My life and all seemed turned to clay.
And then my blood rushed to my face
And took my eyesight quite away,
The trees and bushes round the place
Seemed midnight at noonday.
I could not see a single thing,
Words from my eyes did start --
They spoke as chords do from the string,
And blood burnt round my heart.
Are flowers the winter's choice?
Is love's bed always snow?
She seemed to hear my silent voice,
Not love's appeals to know.
I never saw so sweet a face
As that I stood before.
My heart has left its dwelling-place
And can return no more .

Here is my layout....

This is a portrait photo taken of Noah at about 6 months old.  It's one of my favourite, with his little spiky hairdo....hehehe....I used some old  Kaisercraft Pina Colada papers as they matched his outfit perfectly.  I chose to highlight the title of the poem for my journaling as it seems so appropriate....Noah was our first baby, the first grandchild for my Mum and Dad and our first love as parents.  I love how this layout came together.

Be sure to stop by Scrap that Poetry and check out the other DT girls creations.  They are just gorgeous.  And speaking of which ....Tessa has a fantastic giveaway running on her blog Precocious Paper, head over and take a look at the details for a chance to be in the running.

Footprints in the Sand

In the chaos of last month I didn't post my work for
The poem for our last challenge was

Footprints in the Sand

Mary Stevenson
One night I had a dream --
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before us,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
There was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life
This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
You would walk with me all the way;
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
There is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why in times when I
needed you the most, you should leave me.
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious
child. I love you, and I would never,
never leave you during your times of
trial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

I love this poem...and as it so happens, this is also one of my Mum's favourite's too.  With that in mind I decided to create a canvas for her.  Here's what I came up with....

Be sure to check back soon for our next poem !
